Cub Scout Adventure in Advancement

As we start the new school year many Packs are also starting their calendars. There have been changes made to the Cub Scout program most in terminology from working on Achievements to having Adventures.  Notice in both terms there is an action, we are not an organization of bench warmers or just showing up to receive recognition.  How our scouts receive recognition is by exploring the Adventures to earn their badge of rank: Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos and Arrow of Light.  It is important that these Rank Advancements be earned and reported to the Council by filling out the Advancement record online. This record is important and will follow the scout through his scouting career.

There is concern in Sequoia Council, our council, about Cub Scout Advancement, we are seeing only 60% of all Cub Scouts receiving their rank down over 20% from last year.  If there were ranks earned that have not been reported please do so now.  To make sure that Advancement is properly recorded it is recommended that an Advancement Secretary be appointed to each Pack Committee.  This is for the boys we serve.

To access the advancement system, visit http://my.scouting.org and select “Internet Advancement” from the Legacy Tools menu. If you need assistance with logging in, please contact your local service center. You can also find the updated Guide to Advancement at your local scout shop or online at http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/33088.pdf.
